Job Description

We are seeking an HR Generalist to support employees, managers, and leadership teams across a variety of human resources functions for a small manufacturing company in Minneapolis (not downtown). This role serves as a key point of contact for employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, attendance administration, performance management, training coordination, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with employee support in a manufacturing environment.

Compensation & Schedule:

  • Pay: $32.00-$34.00 per hour ($66,560-$70,720 annually) + full benefits package
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with overtime as needed
  • Location: Fully onsite in south Minneapolis (free parking)
  • Employment Type: Direct Hire or Temp-to-Hire (open to both options)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly production positions, including posting job openings, sourcing candidates through staffing partners and online platforms, coordinating interviews, facilitating onboarding activities, and ensuring all employment documentation is completed accurately.
  • Administer attendance and timekeeping processes by reviewing employee time records, tracking absences and paid time off, monitoring attendance trends, communicating concerns to management, and supporting payroll accuracy.
  • Partner with supervisors and department leaders to coordinate performance reviews, employee development plans, training initiatives, and workforce development programs while maintaining training records and tracking completion deadlines.
  • Serve as a resource for employees by answering questions related to company policies, benefits, attendance guidelines, and workplace procedures while fostering positive employee relations.
  • Provide administrative support to departmental leadership, assisting with reports, documentation, employee communications, and special projects as needed.
  • Support employee relations matters, including disciplinary meetings, investigations, corrective actions, and documentation while ensuring consistency and professionalism throughout the process.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HR records, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Assist with workplace safety and workers' compensation administration, coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, labor regulations, and company policies while supporting ongoing policy reviews and updates.
  • Perform additional HR and administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of HR generalist experience; candidates without a degree should possess 3+ years of relevant human resources experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with employees and management at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • SHRM-CP certification - preferred
  • Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management processes.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, production, or unionized environments is preferred
